Wedding anniversary in Alsace: 5 ways to mark the year (without cliché)

The wedding anniversaries you miss are almost always the ones you remembered too late. Not for lack of love — for lack of a booking. Six weeks before the date is the right moment to decide what to make of it. Here are 5 directions that work, to choose depending on the year you are celebrating and your mood.

A useful reminder: 1 year = cotton, 5 years = wood, 10 years = tin, 15 years = crystal, 20 years = china, 25 years = silver, 30 years = pearl, 40 years = emerald, 50 years = gold. You needn't stick to it — but it helps shape the gesture.

Idea 1 — The one-night getaway, unannounced

This is our most-requested formula for anniversaries from 1 to 7 years. The logic is simple: a Tuesday or Wednesday, you block the night in the suite, drop the children at the grandparents' if you have any, and slip away without a word. The surprise begins when your partner sees the car leaving town.

Rate: from €169 a night midweek, off-season, in a suite with a private spa. It costs less than a starred dinner for two, and it lasts 18 hours.

Idea 2 — The memorable gastronomic dinner

For the more settled anniversaries — 10, 15, 20, 25 years — the meal becomes the gift in itself. Alsace concentrates 25 Michelin stars over 80 km. Three options depending on temperament:

Idea 3 — The staged surprise in the suite

If your partner has a strong emotional memory (the "best surprise of their life" still comes back to them), this is the option that lands most precisely. You contact us 7-10 days in advance, and we prepare the suite to your brief.

Idea 4 — The 'crystal night' — reliving the wedding night

Specially for 15 years (crystal). The concept: recreate the setting of your wedding night — or rather its idealised version, the one you remember. Most couples tell us their real wedding night was chaotic (exhaustion, alcohol, stress). Fifteen years on, we recreate the version they would have wished to live.

Bring your playlist from back then, your favourite outfit from the day, your wedding rings. We handle the rest. Champagne, soft lighting, private hot tub, breakfast served in the room the next morning.

Idea 5 — The weekend with witnesses or close family

For the bigger anniversaries (25, 30, 50 years). You step out of the two-person dynamic to bring back the circle that watched you marry. Three options:
